Describe a new law you would like to introduce in your country: cue card sample answer 1

Introduction

There are various laws in India. India has the most extensive and well-thought-out constitution in the world. In addition to the constitution, we also have detailed laws and regulations for all crimes. Today, I would like to discuss a new law that should be integrated with immediate effect in the country.

What law will it be?

A separate act for Rape consists of entirely different procedures, punishments and safety for women especially named Rape Prevention Act.

Will it be easy to introduce a new law in your country?

No, introducing a new law in the country would be difficult, as the Constitution of India has an extensive procedure for making a law. It entails passing a bill in both houses of the parliament, which takes a long time, including proper discussion and opposition.

Will the new law be famous?

Yes, most definitely, the rape law will become famous, looking at the condition of the country and the increase in the cases that are being seen. It is rather imperative to inculcate a stricter law regarding rape in the country, especially after the Nirbhaya Rape Case and, most recently, the rape of a doctor on the hospital premises.

And explain what the benefits of such a new law would be.

The primary benefit of introducing the law would be an easier procedure for women who have been victims of such heinous crimes. It would also benefit them by creating fear in the minds of people that the repercussions of committing such crimes would not overlooked. Instead, an appropriate punishment would be given to all the people who would set an example for others as well.

Conclusion

To sum up, looking at the increasing cases of rape in the country, in my opinion, the government needs to take a stern step against the wrongdoings and make a law that in no circumstance favours the ones in power.

Introduction

We all are aware that during the making of the Constitution of India, all the classes, sections and societies were considered, and every person was taken into account for their well-being. But today, I would like to mention a major change and introduce a new law in the country as per the change in time.

What law will it be?

Reservation for Economically Backward classes is the new law I would like to introduce in the country.

Will it be easy to introduce a new law in your country?

Absolutely not. The reservation system has existed for decades, and people have become accustomed to it. They would definitely protest against the changes made, as they would eradicate them from their high chairs and bring them to the base level.

Will the new law be famous?

The new law will be famous amongst some communities and people, not all of them. This is because people from the earlier backward classes will not be happy about the change as it would not favour them.

And explain what the benefits of such a new law would be.

The new law will benefit the economically backward classes, which are capable of achieving great things and making a name for themselves but cannot because of their income. This change would keep all students on the same pedestal and give every person and student equal opportunity.

Conclusion

To conclude, this is a necessary change for society at large because earlier reservations were introduced to uplift the backward communities, which is not the case anymore.

IELTS Speaking Part 3- Follow-up questions

Question- Do people in your country usually obey the law?

Answer- In my opinion, any changes in the law that cause slight discomfort or challenge the power they hold cause an uprise. It takes time to adjust and get used to such changes, but eventually, people obey the law. It can be seen that the major laws are mostly obeyed, whereas the smaller laws, life traffic rules, theft and other such rules, are more often seen to be broken by people. In totality, most people in the country obey the laws, rules, and regulations laid down for them.

Question- How do you think your proposed law would benefit society?

Answer- Changing the rape laws of the country and making them more strict would benefit the society as men would have the fear of law and order. It is because of the existing laws that men get the ability to commit such heinous crimes. I would also make the rape laws to be more specific and punishment for every individual irrespective of the designation they are at. It would make society a safer place for women, and the ratio of rape cases that occur in India would diminish significantly.

Question- What challenges do you anticipate in implementing your proposed law?

Answer- The implementation of the removal of reservations from India and instead providing reservations to the economically backward classes would be very difficult. This is because India is a country where the majority of people are from the backward classes, and they have been enjoying the liberties of reservation for a long time now. The community would protest against it and would wreak havoc across the country without any doubts.

Question- How would you address concerns about the potential impact of your proposed law on individual rights and freedoms?

Answer- The impact of the removal of reservations would not hamper the individual rights and freedoms of the people. Initially, the reservation system was initiated and brought into the Constitution of India to uplift the backward society and classes. This was because of the distinct demarcation of classes within the society. Now that the times have changed, it is imperative to change the privileges given to them and shift to the economically backward classes. This will not affect the individual rights and freedoms of the nation's people but would encourage and deteriorate the quantity of below-average and below-poverty-line people.

Question- How would you measure the effectiveness of your proposed law in addressing the issue it aims to tackle?

Answer- The measurement of the effectiveness of the evolved rape laws can be measured by the number of cases that are reported. It is because of the stringent rape laws that half of the girls and women hesitate to report the crime. If there are changes per the proposition, women would be more upfront, raise their voices against the wrong, and have the courage to come forward. The entire motive of the proposed rape law is to change the thinking and create fear in the heads of the rapists that the consequences of their wrongdoings would be severe. This would reduce heinous cases like the Nirbhaya Rape case or the Kolkata Rape case. It would also encourage the women to speak against people in power without hesitation, as the laws would protect them from any other threats.
