To perform well on the speaking component of the exam, candidates must communicate clearly and convincingly in front of the test takers. This blog contains the IELTS cue card topic and a sample answer to help you learn how to respond to the "Describe a person you follow on social media" kind of cue card questions.
Nowadays, there are different ways to obtain information. However, social media is one of the most popular platforms that gives you enough information about almost every field. Unlike before, we may discover information about renowned people's lives without leafing through newspapers and periodicals. We can get this from social media.
I follow a lot of people on social media, but Gaur Gopal Das is my favourite. He is a popular life coach and motivational speaker.
My life was going through difficulties during the world pandemic. So, I turned to social media to pass the time during my free time. I used to scroll my social media account for around 2 to 3 hours daily.
Suddenly, I found a video of Gaur Gopal Das. He was sharing advice on how to deal with difficult situations in the video. In that video, he emphasised the importance of helping people and how it affects their lives. I watched that video and was immediately astounded by his speeches.
In contrast to other social media influencers, he concentrates on imparting knowledge that has the potential to cause a paradigm change in his audience’s life. A significant portion of his writings are inspirational, covering topics like resolving problems diplomatically and exercising willpower.
In addition to this, he encourages people to drive on a spiritual path. He keeps explaining quotes written in Holy books through his reels and videos.
I take his teachings to heart because they enable me to think outside the box. I listen to him whenever I'm feeling unmotivated or anxious to gain confidence and strength as he gives amazing life lessons.
Finally, if I had the chance to meet someone, Gaur Gopal Das would be the person I would most want to meet because I adore his outlook on life, his helping attitude, and his demeanour.

Everyone has a social media account and uses the Internet in today's era. People follow various users, pages, and online industries depending on their interests. I love following pages such as yoga, cooking, art, interior design, etc.
Chef Sanjeev Kapoor is one person whose social media account I follow. He is the creator of Your Food Lab and rose to fame on YouTube by sharing videos of himself cooking and through a popular cooking show, Master Chef. I used to eat food prepared by my mother or from outside; therefore, I was interested in something other than cooking. I was limited to making rice, maggi, tea, and quick precooked meals. However, during a pandemic, when outside stalls, cafes, and restaurants were closed. I began searching the internet for recipes to prepare those meals at home.
I saw a recipe video for garlic bread on YouTube. I used to eat it at least once a week because it's one of my favourites. The six-minute YouTube video was short, but it did a good job of explaining the procedure. Both the presentation and the background music were excellent. The chef featured in the video was Sanjeev Kapoor, and it was made for his personal YouTube account.
Although I had never heard of him before, I chose to try this dish because of the positive reviews. I meticulously followed the recipe. And the results were amazing. It exceeded my favourite restaurant's flavour by a wide margin. When my parents tasted it, they were astonished to learn that I had cooked it and that it was handmade.
After stalking his account, I learned that he keeps posting very tasty, healthy, yet simple recipes on his YouTube channel and on Instagram reels. His social media profiles are full of recipes, many of which I have tried. In addition, he occasionally broadcasts live on his accounts, interacting with his followers and creating recipes live. Most of his posts are either about some recipe or some kitchen hack.
I follow him not just for his recipes but also because he's a really gentle, modest, and soft-spoken man. Now, my mother also occasionally watches his videos and tries his recipes.

These days, social media is playing a bigger role in our lives. The majority of people's time is spent in virtual environments. I generally don't use social media too much to gain more followers. Nonetheless, I follow some of my favourite personalities as well as some inspirational figures.
On social media, I follow a number of notable individuals. But now, I'm going to talk about someone who inspires and greatly impresses me. He is none other than Amazon’s CEO, Jeff Bezos.
I had no prior knowledge of him. I came upon an article about the richest people in the world where I read about him, which further impacted me with his development. I then started looking up his name online out of curiosity and began to follow him on social media.
He is among those who frequently share educational content on social media. The share market was once significantly impacted by his post. I'm always curious to learn about his latest innovations and creations. I thus frequently check his posts on Twitter and follow him there.
Jeff Bezos is a top-class, successful business person who leads an inspiring life. However, his name is now listed among the richest people. All aspiring business owners can truly find inspiration in his remarkable growth. I can learn a few things from him that I could find helpful later on if I get into the business.
In conclusion, Jeff Bezos is one of the most successful people I respect and follow across social media.

Question: What can people do on social media?
Answer: Social networking is useful for maintaining relationships with friends and family. Celebrities can be followed so that others can observe and learn from what's happening in their lives. Even job prospects can be found on social media. Social media also provides business owners with an additional avenue for product advertising and sales growth. On social media, people can share videos of themselves performing, dancing, singing, etc. Also, it allows users to interact with like-minded individuals and make new acquaintances. People can pick up new skills like cooking, gardening, and art through social networking.
Question: Do you think older and younger people will use the same social media software?
Answer: Nowadays, social media usage is enjoyable for people of all ages. Everybody in the world has access to the same social media platforms and functionalities. Younger and older people use social media in different ways, though. Furthermore, compared to older individuals, young generation love social media far more. The younger generation is obsessed with sharing photos, earning likes, and accumulating followers. Most elderly individuals use social media solely for amusement in the interim.
Question: Do older people spend much time on social media?
Answer: Rather than older people, kids and the young generation spend more time on social media. This is because elderly individuals are constantly reluctant to employ new alternatives and are unfamiliar with the newest features. Nonetheless, children are insatiable about trying new things and investigating novel application possibilities.
Question: Are non-social media like television and newspapers still useful?
Answer: Traditional media is very beneficial despite losing some of its attractiveness. Examples of this include TV and newspapers. Globally, a large number of individuals need access to the internet and instead get their news from TV and newspapers. The older generation also refers to this kind of media only. Additionally, TV and newspapers are significantly more reliable than social media, where anyone may publish anything. Social media is a common source of fake news, which susceptible people are prone to believing.
Question: What are the advantages and disadvantages of using social media?
Answer: There are benefits and drawbacks if we are using anything over the maximum. However, I will outline social media's two main benefits and drawbacks. The benefits include facilitating communication with those who live far away. Second, it promotes people's ability to showcase their skills in front of the camera and make money. The two primary drawbacks are that it provides more information about users to cybercriminals because it could be a better thing for the majority of individuals to publish their activities on social media. Second, the majority of people, mostly young children, are addicted to it. They need to use the time they spend on social media for studying and other tasks, but they are spending it there.
