Describe a popular/famous person in your country cue card- sample answer 1

Introduction

A popular or famous person is a human being who is liked by the majority of people due to their work or achievement. Today, I will talk about a famous personality in India who has done wonders for the country in terms of making its presence known on the international front regarding nuclear weapons.

Who is this person?

I am talking about Mr. Atal Bihar Vajpayee, an Indian politician and poet who served as India's Prime Minister, three times, and member of the Indian Parliament for more than five decades.

What has this person done?

Mr. Atal Bihari Bajpayee is mostly known for his great work for the nation, his efforts to make India an independent country with nuclear weapons, the Kargil War, and many others.

Why is this person well-known?

During his term as a Prime Minister, Mr. Vajpayee conducted five underground nuclear tests in Pokhran, Rajasthan, which led to India having a nuclear weapon and better position on the international front. Along with the nuclear tests and India’s emergence as a country having nuclear weapons, Mr. Vajpayee started the Lahore summit by extending a friendly hand towards Pakistan and inaugurated a bus from Delhi to Lahore in 1999 with the hopes of resolving the Kashmir issue.

Further, under his guidance, the Kargil War of 1999 happened when the Indian army recaptured the Indian points back from the Pakistani militants. Along with all these accomplishments, he also built roads in India connecting the four major cities; it is believed he built more roads than Sher Shah Suri.

Why do you admire this person?

I admire Mr. Vajpayee because he has been an exceptional leader and has done great work for the nation. He contributed to increasing the country’s GDP by 7% every year through nuclear tests, the Kargil War, building roads that brought connectivity, and much more. He is one of the most loved Indian politicians.

Conclusion

To conclude, Mr. Vajpayee was an exceptional leader who contributed immensely to India’s development, strengthening it internationally.
