Describe a Rainy Day IELTS Speaking: cue card sample answer 1

Introduction

Today, I would love to tell you about one of the most memorable rainy days, which gave me calming and soothing vibes.

When was it?

This I am talking about the rainy season of 2016. It was the usual day we were about to leave for school when the news came that there would be no school today as it was heavily rainy.

What did you do on that day?

That day, I decided to make it one of my life's most memorable and best days. So I took out my colours, paintbrushes, and drawing book and started painting that rainy day in my book. After completing the painting, I had my food and took a nap. By the evening, the rains had stopped, so my family went for a drive in the nice weather.

How did you feel on a rainy day?

I felt relaxed and happy as I did the thing that I enjoyed doing, and it gave me a sense of comfort and joy as I connected with my creative side.

Conclusion

To conclude, the rainy day I had a few years back was soothing and relaxing, which allowed me to explore my creative side. I went out for a drive with my family in such nice weather, which made it the most memorable rainy day of my life.

Introduction

The rainy season in India is one of my favourite seasons. It's a season of crisp, pleasant air and frequently intense black clouds in the sky. However, some rainy days become too bad to enjoy.

When was it?

Last year, during the rainy season, when I went to my office, it was all good until the afternoon, but suddenly, it became darker in the evening, and it started raining with continuous thundering clouds, and water started to collect everywhere.

What did you do on that day?

I just completed my work in the office and wished for the rain to stop because it became difficult to drive back home in such bad weather.

How did you feel on a rainy day?

After the office, I was waiting for the rain to stop. It didn’t, so we all tried to book a cab. This made me more frustrated and furious because it was raining heavily that day, and we could not connect with the drivers.

Conclusion

To conclude, although I love the rainy season, there are some days when I don’t feel like drenching myself in the rain, and if I have to, I feel irritated about it.

IELTS Speaking Part 3- Follow-up questions

Question: How does rain affect your country?

Answer: Rain affects the country both positively and negatively. For example, farmers feel happy as they get enough water for agriculture. They even create a storage system known as a rainwater harvesting system to preserve water for future use. On the other hand, when the rain lasts for up to 2-3 days, it creates floods in many coastal regions of the countries, where people have to face many difficulties, loss of property and life, and much more.

Question: Have you ever had to postpone plans due to rainy weather?

Answer: Yes, there have been many instances when I had to postpone my plans due to rainy weather. One such instance was when I met my friend who had come to India after so long, but I had to postpone it because of heavy rain.

Question: Do you like rainy days?

Answer: It entirely depends on my schedule when and what I have to do. If something important happens or I must go somewhere urgently and it rains, I would hate rainy days. However, if nothing is important, I would love to sit back at home and enjoy the sound of rain with a hot cup of tea and some fritters.

Question: What will you do if you are out somewhere and it starts raining?

Answer: Usually, I carry my raincoat with me in my bag during rainy days, but if I forget it someday, I take shelter under a tree or under a shop so that I won’t get drenched in the rain.
