Describe a situation when you stuck in traffic jam cue card - sample answer 1

Introduction

Even though I have experienced many traffic jams in my life, one of the first was nerve-wracking but ultimately enjoyable.

When and where it happened?

I spent Christmas Eve with my buddies in the hill station of Manali a year ago. Midway through the trip, there was a traffic bottleneck. It resulted from the building of a new tunnel.

How long have you been in the traffic jam?

We got stuck in the jam for almost two to three hours.

What did you do while waiting?

Since we had no other option, I started playing Antakshari on the bus with my friends. Apart from this, I informed my family that I would reach Manali late due to the traffic jam. Then it started to snow, and our rage turned to laughter. We ate delicious street cuisine and danced on the road.

I assumed responsibility for clearing the gridlock as there were no police present. My friends and I decided to help the other automobile owners by giving them instructions, and soon after, traffic cleared, and cars began to move.

And explain how you felt when you were in that traffic jam.

At first, I was disappointed that our plans to travel to Manali had been disrupted. However, the snowfall made us happy and was the main reason we travelled to Manali.

In addition, I learned a very important lesson from my experience of clearing traffic: "The best way to be free from fear is to face the fear."

Conclusion

Although we were trapped in traffic for hours, we had a great time.

Describe a situation when you stuck in traffic jam cue card - sample answer 2

Introduction

I live in Tonk, a small town near Jaipur, and the roads there are usually relatively quiet. Only during political rallies or religious processions do we see traffic congestion. Additionally, these are typically notified beforehand, so I don't often get caught in traffic jams.

When and where it happened?

But I travelled to Ahmedabad last month to purchase some home decor items. There wasn't any traffic when we went. On the way back, a bus crash between Naroda, my birthplace, and Ahmedabad led to the main route's closure. The buses had to be taken off the roadways, which required the use of large cranes and took time. The main route here eventually caused a severe traffic jam. The traffic cops attempted to redirect traffic via the service road. However, traffic accumulated there because the route was much narrower than the major thoroughfare.

How long have you been in the traffic jam?

We spent at least three to four hours stranded in the traffic. We didn't initially anticipate having to wait for so long. We assumed things would eventually settle down because it was busier than usual.

What did you do while waiting?

But after a half-hour, our car had barely travelled a hundred metres, so my dad walked outside to find out what had occurred. However, since we were in the middle of the traffic, we had no option to return. Therefore, we made an effort to pass the time by playing games and enjoying some music. As much as we all knew that such situations were inevitable, we decided to stay quiet.

And explain how you felt when you were in that traffic jam.

I doubt I could adequately express how we felt at the moment. All we wanted was for the traffic to ease up so we could get home as quickly as possible.

Conclusion

But in my opinion, the day came to a happy conclusion. My mother didn't have time to prepare dinner because we arrived home late. So, in the evening, we decided to have dinner at a fancy restaurant.

Describe a situation when you stuck in traffic jam cue card - sample answer 3

Introduction

Traffic jams occur regularly in urban areas because of the large population and several work premises or companies.

When and where did it happened?

My friends and I were stuck in an apparently never-ending traffic jam during my ongoing board exams, which took up much of our valuable time. We had carefully scheduled our time to ensure we reached the exam centre with plenty of time to spare. But our carefully thought-out plans were completely upended by the unexpected traffic jam. Anxiety mounted as we crawled through the jam-packed car queue, and we couldn't help but wonder if we would arrive at the exam room in time.

How long have you been in the traffic jam?

My father and I were delayed unexpectedly for thirty minutes, which put us in a bind. Due to this unanticipated setback, I lost some valuable time, but I wasn't going to let it stop me from studying for my impending exam.

What did you do while waiting?

That period was mainly spent preparing for my examinations; I studied a lot and revised thoroughly to ensure I was well-prepared. My dad, however, had a different struggle as he made his way through the clogged streets, trying to figure out how to escape the never-ending traffic jam that seemed to be engulfing the city.

And explain how you felt when you were in that traffic jam.

I was nervous about the traffic and my exams. I was anxious about the upcoming tests and whether I had done enough to be ready. Concurrently, I became more anxious about the traffic situation since I was afraid I might get caught up in it and miss crucial study time or possibly the examinations themselves. It seemed like I was suffering from severe FOMO or the fear of losing out on chances to do well on tests and achieve my academic objectives. I felt overwhelmed and afraid about what lay ahead because of all these worries.

Conclusion

Ultimately, during this period, we experienced severe traffic congestion, but it also provided us with invaluable insights into the actual value of time management.

IELTS speaking part 3 - Follow-up Questions

The third section of the IELTS speaking test required applicants to react to the provided follow-up questions. They get roughly four to five minutes to complete this section. The topic will be discussed in more detail. Here are some additional questions related to the topic: explain a time when you were stopped in traffic.

Question: Are traffic jams common in Indian cities?

Answer: Indeed, it most certainly is. The population of India is estimated to be 1.2 billion internet users. Therefore, it is estimated that many people deal with traffic jams on a daily basis, particularly in large cities like Delhi, Bangalore, Kolkata, and other developing cities. The lack of parking spaces in cities may also be a contributing factor. People park their cars on the actual roads. As a result, traffic congestion is a major issue in Indian cities.

Question: Why are cities facing serious traffic issues today?

Answer: Growing urbanisation is the primary cause of the severe traffic problems. In search of a higher standard of living, an increasing number of people are relocating to cities, which is the main cause of the traffic congestion problem. Furthermore, some older cities have tiny roads because such roads were not built with today's car usage in mind. These tiny roadways impede traffic flow and cause gridlock.

Question: What can be done to improve traffic conditions in cities?

Answer: To control this issue, the government must step forward. First and foremost, the government ought to push people to drive less in private vehicles and more in public ones. Increasing the convenience and safety of public travel could make it feasible. Apart from this, in order to ensure proper traffic flow, highways should also be built.

Question: Can developing public transport help resolve traffic issues in cities?

Answer: Without a doubt, sure. Right now, there is no other viable option except for the government to take action and educate the people about public transport usage and its safety and security. And its contribution to generating income for the state. With quick and dependable public transport, the government can greatly aid a rising city and alleviate traffic problems by preventing traffic bottlenecks and reducing roadway accidents.

Question: What is your point on the future behind transportation and its improvements?

Answer: Well, because of significant technological advancements, the expansion of automobiles and transportation networks will likely proceed further in the future. In addition, if present conditions persist in the future, it can result in a rise in air pollution.
