Describe your dream house cue card - sample answer 1

Overview

Everyone prioritises having their own house when they start working. In the same way, I also imagined a perfect home.

Where is your dream house located?

I've lived in a modest rental home in Nagpur for my entire life but ever since I moved to Pune for work, I decided to buy a home of my own.

What would it look like?

Since I have a small family of four members, I picture my dream home having three bedrooms with all the contemporary conveniences such as remote-controlled fans, plush furnishings, an aesthetic living room and much more. I want to live in a fancy neighbourhood with easy access to everything.

When would you like to live in your dream house?

If it were up to me, I would like to purchase my ideal home right now. Nevertheless, because it isn't financially feasible, I will make an effort to work hard and achieve financial stability so that I can eventually own it.

Why is this house perfect for you?

Since childhood, I’ve always imagined having my own house. It would be a great feeling to call a certain place my own, finally. I can’t wait to host get-togethers at my own house and chill with my family members.

Conclusion

If I purchase a home in Pune, one of my long-held goals will come true. Hopefully, my dream house will transform my lifestyle and foster more development, prosperity and contentment for me and my loved ones.

Overview

One of a person's basic necessities is having a roof over his head. In actuality, having a house of one's own is a must for surviving in this world. If I think of having a place to reside, my dream house would be perfect. I feel fortunate to be able to speak about my dream house to you.

Where is your dream house located?

First of all, I love being around nature with fresh air coming in. I therefore want my home to be near to the open surroundings. I feel rejuvenated and have the energy I need to finish my everyday tasks when I'm rejuvenated in the morning. The site must be serene and quiet, and it is the most crucial factor. However, I can't find a setting as peaceful and tranquil as the one where I currently reside. The rush and bustle of metropolitan life is all over it.

What would it look like?

Since I have a small family, I thus don’t require a big house. Instead, I dream of a modest apartment where I might fit my essential possessions. At the very least, I would like the establishment to have three large rooms with all the additional contemporary amenities. I intend to turn the other space into a living room and bedroom. A big bookshelf, three or four couches or seats, a reading table, a television, and other items will all be used to embellish the living room. Apart from this, I wish to have a good balcony space where I can meditate and just relax in the morning or whenever I am free and feel like taking in natural air.

In addition, I intend to put potted plants in the rooms I will occupy. My current location doesn't get enough sunlight, so it's not good for potted plants. I thus want the area to have natural lighting so that I may make the most of the daylight.

When would you like to live in your dream house?

I would like to get this dream house as soon as possible, maybe in the next year or two. All I need to do is have a job I enjoy and financial stability so I can buy the house of my dreams.

Why is this house perfect for you?

I require a conducive setting to develop my imagination because I am a writer by profession. I am drawn to this type of lodging for a variety of reasons. First of all, having a peaceful, quiet home contributes to mental contentment. Additionally, it broadens one's thinking capacity, which frees the mind to imagine broadly and create fictional stories. Other than this, I enjoy living a solitary life because I am an introvert by nature. Therefore, such an accommodation arrangement is appealing in light of my preferences.

Conclusion

Overall, I am really looking forward to purchasing this dream house as soon as possible.

Describe your dream house cue card - sample answer 3

Overview

Since I was a little child, I've assumed that growing up would be wonderful. One of the major things on my wish list has been buying my ideal home, a space where I can welcome the people I love and care for.

Where is your dream house located?

The only place I can imagine this dream home is a serene, chilly hill area. I have always been attracted to mountains and hills with aesthetic views, so I would like to purchase my dream house in a hilly area. I would want to feel happy and alive sitting beside my window, staring at that beautiful sunset syncing with those lush green trees.

What would it look like?

Ideally, my dream home would be of a moderate size with a capacity to accommodate 10 people. I have no desire to live in a massive mansion equipped with every luxury known to man. Apart from this, I want to add hundreds of small plants to my balcony, which is my favourite place to sit and relax. I would also like to add one couch and a comfortable chair on my balcony, where we can just sit and relax with our cup of coffee and enjoy the view. Moreover, I would like to add some artwork to my kitchen and drawing room area.

When would you like to live in your dream house?

I plan to buy my dream house as soon as possible. When I have enough money and a secure job, I will start hunting for it in a hilly area.

Why is this house perfect for you?

I couldn't find a more ideal setting than this one. I adore the feeling of being in the middle of nature and cold and cosy weather. I’ve always been a mountain baby. In addition, I'll customise this area to fit my comfort level and taste. Therefore, this is going to be a perfect house for me.

Conclusion

Overall, my dream home will be a harmonious combination of cosiness, style and practicality.

IELTS Speaking part 3 - Follow up questions

Question: What type of home do most people live in your country?

Answer: India is a very diverse nation. Depending on the area and temperature, different people inhabit different styles of housing. Bamboo houses are prevalent in the eastern regions of India, for instance. Sloped housing is typical in areas with snowfall. People build their homes in plain locations based on the available space and area.

Question: What do Indians prefer, apartments or houses?

Answer: I think it varies depending on the area that a person lives in. In urban areas, individuals tend to favour flats due to the shortage of available land. In contrast, individuals in the small area favour land ownership.

Question: Do young people in your country like to live with their parents or by themselves?

Answer: Unless they have to relocate to another city or country to pursue further education or better professional opportunities, young people in my country prefer to reside with their parents. Living with one's parents is customary for children in Indian culture, I believe.

Question: How is modern home design in your country different to that of the past?

Answer: In my nation, current house design differs greatly from historical styles. More sophisticated materials, such as soundproof windows, insulated walls and waterproof coatings are being employed to construct  new buildings. The layout of contemporary homes takes into account the available space. Modern home designs make better use of the available space. Earlier, homes were larger but lacked modern amenities, such as dishwashers, microwaves, and washing machines, which is not the case now.

Question: Do people prefer to live in modern homes or older homes (for example, from 50 years ago)?

Answer: Owing to the fact that modern homes can better manage the newest technological devices and technology, people prefer to live in modern homes rather than homes with older designs. Additionally, the materials utilised to construct modern homes are better; examples include earthquake- and weather-resistant architecture and paint. Modern homes are better designed to make the most of space available. Therefore, people nowadays prefer to live in modern homes.

Question: Do Indian people like to rent a place to live?

Answer: Some people come from low-income backgrounds. They are unable to purchase a home of their own. Rent-controlled housing is the norm in even the smallest cities. The majority of people in my nation can be found renting homes. Also, a lot of people with transferable jobs are observed to rent a house rather than buying one.

Conclusion

Overall, speaking in the IELTS exam requires more than just giving a speech, it also requires combining the speech with precise pronunciation and vocabulary building. This will increase the examiner's level of participation in the discussion and undoubtedly, improve the final score.
