Environment Essay Topics with Samples: IELTS Writing Task 2

Overview

IELTS Writing Task 2 is the second part of the writing task. In it, you are required to showcase your point of view, discuss any issue or problem related to the topic, express your opinion, and write an essay on the given topic as an answer. The essay should be in a formal tone and at least 250 words long. You are required to complete the task in 40 minutes. However, students often face challenges in successfully attempting and scoring well in this section.

Therefore, we have written two samples in this blog one of the most trending essay topics: “Environment.” These samples will aid in your IELTS writing section preparation, so let us start the blog.

Importance of Our Environment - IELTS Writing Task 2 - sample 1

For millions of years, the environment has given humans everything they need to live better lives, including wood, food, clothing, light, air, and breathtaking scenery like forests, waterfalls, and landscapes. The environment has benefited humans in many ways, but we humans continue to exploit the environment for a variety of personal reasons. These days, there is a lot of environmental damage due to rising population and urbanisation. The entire ecosystem of the planet is deteriorating. With continuous changes in the chemical and physical environment that make up our planet's biosystem, our planet is steadily losing resources.

Today, the environment consists of farmlands and agriculture, but it also covers the entire world, and because of this, it is getting disrupted and out of balance. Farming and domesticating animals have led to new communicable diseases in humans, creating new challenges impacting the health of humans and other living creatures.

Pollution in the air, water, and soil significantly damages the environment, and harmful greenhouse gases cause the greenhouse effect. Due to this, ozone, a protective layer of the earth, and the sun's direct UV rays reach the Earth, melting snow and causing significant skin infections and diseases in humans and animals. Many creatures are becoming extinct due to waves, pollution, a lack of trees, and the use of modern devices.

To conclude, we need to understand the importance of our environment. We must also take protective measures to preserve it because if we do not, the remaining animals and plants will also become extinct, affecting the ecological balance of humans and other living creatures as well as biodiversity.

Impact of Deforestation on Environment - IELTS Writing Task 2 - sample 2

Deforestation, the act of removing forest land for other uses, is a global issue that is becoming increasingly severe. It has resulted in a number of environmental problems, such as the extinction of wildlife, harm to biodiversity, global warming, climate change, and effects on the water cycle. Deforestation has been linked to climate change, causing challenging issues for humans and animals by impacting our environment and causing damage like soil erosion, flooding, loss of property and lives and many other disturbances.

Carbon dioxide is taken in by plants and trees and released as oxygen, which is necessary for human life. In addition, trees purify the atmosphere by absorbing harmful gases. Deforestation raises the global atmospheric levels of carbon and toxic gases like methane, making a significant contribution to global warming. Additionally, forests are essential for regulating the water cycle. The water cycle is being disrupted by increasing forest cutting, causing uneven rainfall in various areas.

Additionally, deforestation's adverse impact on biodiversity contributes to environmental imbalance. Many kinds of plants and animals find shelter in forests, and clearing woodlands harms these helpless animals' habitats. Every day, several plant and animal species disappear as a result of habitat loss and food scarcity. Rich biodiversity is necessary for our world to maintain a healthy environmental balance, and the ecology needs to be balanced due to deforestation. Hence, it is important to immediately take strict measures against deforestation and plant as many trees as possible.

In summary, deforestation negatively impacts our ecosystem in various ways. It is high time we grasp the severity of the issue and take proper measures to stop it. If we do not take crucial steps, future generations will suffer greatly, and our environment will degrade further.
