The IELTS Writing Task 2 is centred on your ability to express ideas clearly in English. It's a key element in both the Academic and General Training modules. In this task, you're required to craft an essay in response to an issue, argument/opinion, or topic. However, many students find this task to be difficult because of the minimum word limit, which is 250 words.
In this blog, we have focused on one of the trending topics: fossil fuels. We have provided two samples to help you prepare for the essay part of the writing section.
Natural resources known as fossil fuels comprise organic matter acquired by partial oxidation, prolonged exposure to high temperatures and pressures, and the subsequent decomposition of animal and plant wastes. These fossil fuels are essential to practically every aspect of modern existence.
It should come as no surprise that using these non-renewable energy resources has severe adverse effects on the environment in terms of how they are used and eventually disposed of, extracted and processed. Studies have demonstrated that greenhouse gas emissions caused by humans have caused global warming. The ice has begun to melt due to the temperature increase, raising the average sea level. They are rising twice as quickly as they did 150 years ago. When fossil fuels are converted to energy, solid waste builds up and disastrously affects the ecosystem. Solid waste management calls for land, funding, and careful observation, all frequently overlooked. These wastes are naturally hazardous, and improper disposal can seriously harm the ecology. The wildlife, plants, and marine life are all at risk from this.
To conclude, alternative energy sources like wind and solar power are being promoted to solve environmental issues and advance sustainable development. Moreover, embracing renewable energy has many advantages, including diversified energy resources, reduced greenhouse gas emissions, and better economic growth.
Although fossil fuels have long been our main energy source, they negatively affect the environment. Several nations have begun to depend on green energy to address this pressing issue. In addition, it's good that we're starting to look into and use green energy, alternative energy sources that are sustainable and don't harm the ecosystem.
Fossil fuels are limited and will become scarce and eventually run out. Thus, in the future, renewable alternative and green energy sources will be responsible for the majority of our energy supply. Since green energy sources like Wind Energy, Hydroelectric, Ocean Energy, Geothermal Energy, Biomass, and Hydrogen are renewable, even though the transition from fossil fuel to green energy is costly and labour-intensive, it is a good thing that the development has already begun and that their use be promoted as much as possible. Alternative energy sources are eco-friendly, have reduced carbon emissions, and don't harm the environment. Examples of these include solar and wind power. Therefore, if they are used, the planet may be spared the catastrophic effects of global warming, which are now evident. Denmark, Germany, France, and a growing number of other nations are among those that employ solar and wind energy. Our current technology for generating solar and wind electricity is incredibly efficient, and the trend is positive.
In summary, the supply of fossil fuels is running out while the demand for energy is growing quickly. Therefore, in order to save our planet from adversities due to climate change and greenhouse effects, we need to switch to alternative green energy sources and share the technology and skills with all nations.
